To get to Swartkop from the West Rand you can use the N14 from Krugersdorp or the Ben Schoeman Highway from Johannesburg, whichever is most convenient for you as both come together at the Brakfontein Interchange in Centurion.
Then taking it from this interchange stay/get (as applicable depending on which highway you decided to use) onto the N14 Ben Schoeman Highway towards Pretoria. On the N14 you’ll cross over Jean Avenue followed by passing under the M10 (Trichardt Road). Shortly after passing under the M10 there is an off ramp to your left which will indicate the M24 (Snake Valley Road) and Trichardt Road again, as well. Take this off ramp (be careful, as it’s quite a sharp left turn) to the ‘T’ junction which is the M24 Snake Valley Road. At this ‘T’ junction turn right into Snake Valley Road which now passes an obvious military depot called Mobile Deployment Wing on your left hand side. Follow Snake Valley Road as it winds up the hill and swings to the left.
At the top of the hill you’ll see the S.A. Air Force Memorial on your left and you’ll catch a glimpse of Swartkop Air Force Base, also on your left. Continue to a set of traffic lights which is where Snake Valley Road intersects the Old Jo’burg Road (R101). At this intersection turn left into the R101 and you’ll pass the S.A. Air Force Gymnasium on your right hand side closely followed by the entrance to Swartkop Air Force Base on your left hand side at the traffic lights. The gate is guarded so you’ll be stopped and asked where you want to go. Once through the gate turn right at the ‘T’ junction and the Harvard Club office is an old military-style red-brick building on your right hand side, about 80 metres from the main gate. The Harvard Club hangar is directly opposite the Club offices and is an old grey historical hangar dating back many decades. You can park right in front of the Club if you like and there is normally enough parking in the immediate area.
