We launched our new website

Late last year, we had an inspection (audit) from CAA. The inspector was happy with the state of the Club, advising the few corrections and improvements to be made in order to achieve a 100% report. We have to thank our Chairman, Jock, for his effort in liasing with CAA to get all our ducks in a row. We are striving for that 100% report.

It is with sadness that we have to inform you of the passing away of one of our young members, TYRON BAKER (21/01/1988 ---05/01/2008) due to a brain tumor. Harvards were his passion and he performed his duties, here at the Club with great enthousiasm. Our condolences to the family, we will surely miss him, but we are sure of his flight of freedom in the big aviation sky. Tyron’s ashes will be scattered out of a Harvard on 02/02/2008.

On Saturday 09 February, we will have a farewell function for Reg & Pat at the Club at 11h00. Please attend in order to wish them well in their retirement.

We are planning a monthly raffle, for your R20-00 you can win R200-00, this is only the start, if you support, the winnings could escalate to “millions”.

Merit and appointment certificates are in the design stage and should be available soon.

Corporate Days, according to the Chairman, could soon become a monthly event, wow, would that fill the coffers!

The ongoing search for sponsors continues !. We hope to report success soon.

We need all sorts of equipment for the new office, talk to us, we will accept any donation.

More than half of January 2008 galloped past like the blink of an eye, so , once again may we wish you a wonderful year of prosperity, health and all that goes with it. The “office” took a break over the holidays but we are back in full swing, so move and get yourself over here and experience the vibe!

Lt.Gen. Carlo Gagiano, CAF, Maj. Gen. Winston Thackwray, together with Col, I.Zurich, OC ZWKP and Lt.Col. Clive Shepherd, SAAF Museum, visited the Club on Thursday 17th Jan. Various points were discussed and certain guidelines and future prospects were tabled. CAF commended the Club on the progress made regarding the new offices and the state of operational and corporate image of HCSA. The shortcomings regarding the hangars will be attended to asap. SAAF will assist in moving of a/c and spares to Museum storage at Snake Valley. CAF offered surplus flightsuits and helmets to the Club. After the meeting, we were treated to “refreshments” at the Hartebees Club.

The following has been discussed and confirmed at the above mentioned meeting

a. Chief of Air Force (CAF) has accepted the position of Patron General of the Harvard Club
b. Honorary Colonel, Basil Hersov, will be invited to fill the position of Honorary Member of the Harvard Club
c. The Chairman of the Harvard Club is to maintain his position for a minimum of 2 years
d. Memorabilia, Caps and Shirts will be available soon at the office (Sub branch of Dave en Lu's shop)
e. The AGM will be held on Saturday, 24th of May 2008 at The Harvard Club, Zwartkop at 09h00
